Description

Fox replacement front axles to suit Fox Forks.

We get it, axles go missing, get damaged, maybe even break. There's nothing better than a genuine Fox Racing Shox replacement axle for your beloved fork.

For the most part, the standard QR and Kabolt are interchangeable as long as you buy the model suited to your hub width (Boost or non-Boost).

On forks prior to 2021, the position of your QR lever could be managed relative to your axle tension by rotating a threaded insert on the drive side leg of the fork. This would change the angle that the QR would sit when fully engaged allowing you to keep it horizontal or aligned with the fork legs. From 2021 Fox has removed the preload adjustment hardware from the drive side of the fork. Newer QR axles to suit these new forks have a 4mm hex to adjust the pre-load on the axle before the QR is engaged. QR axles prior to this have no way of adjusting the tension relative to the QR position. If you have a 2021 or later fork and want a replacement QR axle, it's best to stick with the 2021+ QR unless you want to swap to a bolt-up axle, in which case you can use the standard Kabolt.

2021+ 36 and 38 forks with pinch-bolt axles must only use KaboltX type axles.

    Does what it says on the tin.

    Don't need to take my wheel off and on regularly so removed the QR and put this on. Easy to install, set and forget, nice clean look and I guess a few grams lighter.

    An Axle!

    This is an axle. It is easy to over torque. I ruined the 5mm hex slot on the first one due to carelessness. Follow the low Fox torque setting and it will hold your wheel onto a Fox 40. Pretty cool.

    Exactly what it says it is

    Great axle, exactly what the description was. Just happy to replace the stripped one that was on my bike as I couldn't undo it to remove the front wheel.

    20mm x 110mm - OK product, but don't recommend for people who need to remove wheels often

    The axle itself has a couple design flaws which really make it difficult to like, it does it's job, but is easily seized and stripped with frequent removal. Even with pinch bolts completely out it can seize without warning and strip easily. This won't be a problem however you only remove wheels for tire changes/servicing.

    1. The alloy it's made out of is VERY SOFT, I compare this directly to my Pike and Lyrik axles which both are made of a more hardy material, you can feel this if you hold them.

    2. The 5mm hex needed to unscrew is a weird choice considering the rear of all 3 of my bikes need 6mm, and most of RockShoxs forks need 6mm if running bolts, no doubt a bigger hex requirement would reduce the ease of stripping out.

    If you do end up stripping them do not try to drill them out and ruin the fork threads, instead get a dremel and cut out 2 slots on either side of the hex hole big enough for a decently sized flathead screwdriver to fit in securely. Then get an adjustable wrench and clamp down on the flat of the screwdriver at an angle that gives you good leverage and pull or push. The fork will be free, but you'll need another one of these.
