Bikes are designed to work with specific wheel sizes(s). You can find your existing wheel size(s) printed on the wheels or in your bike's specifications.
  • The hub spacing of your wheels are described by the Axle Diameter x Hub Width (e.g., 15x110mm).
  • Your frame and fork are designed to work with specific sized hubs.
  • You can find these details printed on your current hubs, or measure the hub width and axle diameter yourself.

    Wheels are designed to compromise between strength, weight, and manufacturing cost.
  • The intended Riding Style influences these design choices.
  • Many Wheels suitable for Enduro riding are also a great choice for E-MTB riding.
  • Downhill Wheels prioritise strength over everything.
  • XC Wheels focus on being light and stiff.
  • Trail Wheels are suitable for general MTB riding.
  • Aluminium Wheels are cheaper, and often repairable/rideable when damaged. Aluminium wheels require regular 'truing' to stay straight.
  • Carbon Wheels are generally lighter, stiffer, more expensive, and do not bend when impacted. But, when carbon rims crack they will be completely destroyed.
  • There may not be Carbon Wheels available in your specifications.

    Internal Rim Width impacts the width of tyre that can be used on the wheel.
  • Rims have become wider over time, with most rims between 24-31mm.
  • XC rims tend to be 23-26mm wide.
  • 'Plus' rims are over 35mm wide.

  • Brake rotors attach to your wheels either by 6 small bolts (6 Bolt) or using one central lockring (Centrelock).
  • Centrelock-compatible wheels can use an adaptor to run 6 Bolt rotors, if desired.
  • Purchase the correct type to match your existing brake rotors, or purchase new rotors at the same time as wheels.
