Description

The Deore BR-M6100 are value-packed hydraulic disc brake with many of the same performance-enhancing features that were originally developed for Shimano's premium XTR and XT ranges.

The lever now has a shorter free stroke and quicker brake engagement and an additional contact point braces the lever against the bars for intuitive and powerful braking with greatly reduced flex through the lever body. Deore series brakes are now I-Spec EV compatible, allowing you to mount your shifter or remote lever on the same clamp for a clutter-free cockpit.

The BR-M6100 features a lightweight 2-piston caliper for lightweight and reliable braking performance in all conditions.

Who is this item for: The lightweight 2-piston caliper in the BR-M6100 makes it an excellent choice for XC and Trail bikes.

How many pistons: The BR-M6100 has a 2-piston caliper.

Material: Anodised aluminium brake lever and painted aluminium master cylinder and caliper.

Adjustment: The lever has tooled reach adjustment (via Allen key).

Brake Type/Fluid: Shimano brakes use mineral oil.

Which Pads: The brakes are shipped with Shimano J03A resin - organic, aluminium backed pads. They are also compatible with J series finned pads.

Mount: The brakes levers are I-Spec EV compatible so they can be cleanly matched with latest model Shimano shifters and various aftermarket dropper post remotes.

  • Rear: 1700mm
  • Front: 1000mm
Are the brakes bled: The brakes are Shimano J-Kit which means they are fully bled in the factory and the brake line is disconnected at the lever end to allow for easier installation on frames with internal routing. The brake line is capped and the lever plugged and the olive is shipped inside the brake lever. If you don't need to trim your brake lines you can reattach the brake line without the need to bleed your brakes.

Pros: Excellent performance and features at an attractive price point.

Cons: Small weight penalty over the higher-end models. Reach adjustment requires an Allen key.

    Excellent and affordable

    Easy to fit, and pre-bled installation works unbelievably well. Brake has great modulation and light lever action. Way nicer than the brake it replaced.

    Great brakes

    Great upgrade for my son's hardtail, very sticky and good stopping power not so great for my weight 100kg but great for 60kg to 80kg range!

    Great breaks for my son's bike

    Really sticky brakes for my son's hardtail a major up grade on the ones that came with the bike.... They are not too good at stopping my weight 100kg but great at 60 to 80kg range.

    Won't brake the bank.

    Can't fault them. Great budget option. Probably still need time to bed the pads in, but feel great already. I needed to also replace the front Avid IS 160mm adapter for the Shimano equivalent (ISMMA90F160PS). The Shimano caliper fouled on the Avid adapter, and also sat too high on the rotor. Quick Sunday run to the LBS and $20 later, everything installed perfectly!

    Brakes are good, get some of these

    Nice budget brake. My second hand pump track bike had none so I can now send it in the knowledge I can stop on my bike, not on my face so I am a happy camper. Also quite easy to install even for a newb like me
