Description

The Clan 2 from Northwave takes subtle styling and breathable materials and combines them in a performance-oriented MTB flat pedal shoe with an exclusive Northwave system that’s specially developed to deliver total control.

The co-developed Michelin-NW compound tread ensures 'unprecedented' grip on the pedals and the adaptive TPU shank adds a calibrated amount of stiffness, increasing control and support, while the EVA (Ethylene-vinyl acetate) midsole provides efficient shock absorption.

The Clan 2 features an abrasion-resistant welded synthetic upper with large breathable mesh inserts to keep your feet cooler on hot days and the welded TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) reinforcements on the toe box and heel offers impact protection.

The mesh tongue has customized padding to combine protection and breathability and there's an elasticated keeper to neatly store your non-stretch laces to keep them out of your chain.

Who's it For: Flat pedal riders wanting a high-performance shoe that doesn't feel like a pot cozy on a hot day

Pedal Interface: The Clan 2 is a flat pedal shoe

Closure: Non-stretch laces with an elasticated keeper on the tongue

Upper Materials: Abrasion-resistant welded synthetic upper with large breathable mesh panels

Sole Materials: EVA midsole and multi-compound Michelin-NW rubber sole

Sole Type: Full flat-pedal optimised tread with toe and heel grip

Weight: 860g (EU41)

Sizing Guide: Northwave shoes are sized to provide a classic tight cycling fit through the midfoot with room in the toe box.

    Excellent Shoes!

Previously had the Clan (Version 1), needed to upsize a bit to have a more comfortable fit. Grip is excellent, they're solid, well built and feel great when riding. My previous Clan shoes have lasted 2 years and have just been handed down to my young fella.

    Great shoes!

I'm very happy with these. It's been a while since I wore 5.10s, so a direct comparison of grip probably isn't fair, but I definitely haven't found myself wanting more grip. They are pretty stiff which is how I like them. Quality of construction seems good.

I'm happy with the level of protection. They are probably a tiny bit more breathable than anything else I've tried yet, which is good for me, but I would love it if they were even more airy. Seems like there aren't any MTB shoes that are made for hot weather.

If you're on the fence between two sizes, I would recommend picking the larger one. I had to go up to a size 45 to get the right fit after first ordering size 44. For reference, I got a good fit from size US11 in old 5.10 Impacts and take size EU45 in Bontrager Flatlines. I'm usually a US11 in running shoes. I take 44 in Sidi roadie shoes and am mostly a EU44 when buying European brands.

The Clans in 44 were both too short and too narrow around the ball of my foot and toes. Size 45 fits me well. My heels are on the narrow side, and I have a low-ish volume foot with wide forefoot and they are all good.
