Description

If you like bombing down rocky trails but cringe at the sound your rim makes every time you catch a rock, then you should probably invest in some tyre inserts! Designed to be light weight and simple to install, the Tyreinvader helps save your tyres and rims from hard impacts without interfering with how your wheels behave.

Who's this item for: All riders looking for a simple to install tyre insert to help protect their rims and tyres.

Tubes / Tubeless: Designed to be used in a tubeless set up, it works with any tubeless valve.

Materials: Made from a closed cell polymer, EVA (ethylene-vinyl acetate). It is a durable and impact absorbent material.

Theory: Designed to be a cushion between your rim and tyre, it absorbs impacts while the cut outs allow sealant to freely flow through it. The insert is sized to sit tightly on the rim so in a sticky situation you will be able to ride short distances on a completely flat tyre.

Durability: It is made from an extremely durable material, Effetto Mariposa recommend checking the condition once a year or after a hard riding session.

Fitment difficulty 1 - 10 (10 being the most difficult): Unlike other tyre inserts on the market, it is very easy to fit and can easily be sized to fit your rim diameter (check out the video below). Lets call it a 3.

Suggested tyre pressures: Effetto Mariposa do not encourage riders to use a thinner tyre or run lower tyre pressures than they would normally. The goal is to allow riders to run the tyre pressure they normally ride without having to worry about pinch flats.

Stand out Features:

Lightweight yet strong: Its a lighter than a lot of other tyre inserts on the market while still offering a good amount of protection. The weights are shown below for 29ers, (so are even less if they are cut down):
  • Tyreinvader 40 = 53 gm.
  • Tyreinvader 50 = 68 gm.
  • Tyreinvader 55 = 80 gm.
Real Run flat ability: The insert completely coverts the rim so the ability to ride on a completely flat tyre to get you out of trouble is a massive bonus.

Sealant Optimised: Due to the closed cell structure the insert will not absorb any sealant allowing it to move freely inside the tyre. The "Space Invader" inspired cut outs allow sealant to move through the insert, which is not possible with other "donut" shaped inserts. They are compatible with any tubeless valve so no need to worry about purchasing anything extra!

What's in the box:
  • 2 x Tyre Invader Tubeless Inserts.
  • 4 x Cable Ties.
  • 1 x Reusable Transparent Bag.
Pros: Light weight and easy to install. They are compatible with any tubeless valve.

Cons: Do not allow you to run lower tyre pressures, or provide a tyre "suspension" system like other inserts on the market.

    XC inserts

Did not experience any weight penalty as my normal inserts. however I haven't pushed them as hard.

Installed easy enough and accepted sealant without hassle.

    A cheap insurance policy!

I run one of these in the rear of each of my XC wheelsets - Im a smooth rider and quite light, but I like the added security of knowing I wont dent a rim on an unexpected obstacle. Very light weight, relatively easy to install (compared to other tyre inserts) and a great idea to run with low pressures to avoid pinch flats & rim strikes.

Not a cushcore but good protection for $$

Seems to be doing what its designed for. Back rim has taken a few decent hits & so far is still dent free.

Have used one pair in the rear of two bikes. Dont see the point of the front as it doesnt get subjected to the hits that the rear does.

A bit frustrating to install correctly however. Just making sure its sitting flat in the tyre can be a challenge.
