Description
The Crankbrothers Mallet E clip-in shoe excels for enduro races or all-day adventures. The innovative Match System optimises engagement for any MTB clip-in system, whether that’s Crankbrothers or SPD.
The shoes come with a Match shim and Crankbrothers cleat pre-installed in a neutral position so they are ready to ride with Crankbrothers pedals right out of the box. The shim positions the cleat for a great feel with Crankbrothers pedals and can be removed once the cleat wears down to retain a positive engagement with the pedal that's not too loose and not too tight.
SPD pedals don't need the shim so you can remove it and put it in your spares box if you're running these shoes with SPD's or most other brands of pedals.
Riding Style: Designed with Enduro racing and Trail riding in mind but they are perfectly well suited to any type of MTB riding bar serious XC racing.
Closure System: The BOA Fit System utilises a micro-adjustment dial, a strong lightweight lace and low-friction lace guides to deliver a fast, effortless, precision fit.
Match System: Match is a design approach that considers the pedal and the shoe as a unified system to provide an optimised interface.
Match Box: The ramped cleat box offers easy front and rear pedal entry and mud shedding. A Race Zone setback on the cleat track allows the cleat to be positioned further toward the heel for added control and stability when descending.
Match Compound: Crankbrothers' mid-friction rubber compound (MC1) allows for easy pedal entry and exit and is hard enough to hold up to wear and tear. The radial lug pattern around the cleat box is designed to provide smooth release from the pedal body.
Match Outsole: The tread pattern is designed for traction off the bike. Directionally angled and spaced toe and heel lugs offer traction for hiking up or down steep terrain. The ramped toe provides walkability on steep terrain.
