Budget friendly, trail worthy wheels from Shimano!

Who's this for: Riders looking for a replacement wheel of decent quality that won't hurt your back pocket.

Hub-
Spoke holes: 24 spokes

Convertibility: Not convertible between sizes.

Bearings: Loose ball, cup and cone bearings. Contact grease seals.

Brakes: Centrelock rotors only!


Rim-
Tubeless: Not with the included rim strips, but yes with tubeless tape.

Dimensions: 21mm depth for good vertical compliance. 24mm internal width.

Tyres: Perfect for 2.0" to 2.3" tyres.

Joining: Pin jointed rims walls.

Material: Aluminium.


Spokes-
Spoke count: 24 spokes

Lacing: 2 cross lacing.

Materials: Stainless steel spokes, with brass nipples.

Hub mount: J-bend style


Overall weight:
27.5 - 1100g
29 - 1150g

Pros: Budget friendly, strong enough for reasonable trail use.

Cons: Centrelock only. Only 24 spokes.

    SHIMANO WH-MT500 REAR WHEEL

    This is a decent quality wheel for a great price. After buckling and denting my previous wheel, I bought this wheel and it hasn't let me down yet after 6 months of use. It has a fairly fast engaging hub, but just remember that you will need to buy a separate rim strip if you want to set it up tubeless. MTB direct were awesome to work with and their website is easy to order through. The delivery was quick and always is.
