Type J pads are finned pads to suit Shimano 2-piston brakes. The cooling fins help to disperse the heat so you get less fade under heavy, sustained braking. The same pad shape is available in Type G which is the non-finned version of this pad.
The pads are available in both Sintered - Metallic and Resin - Organic options.
Sintered/Metallic:
Pros:- Less fade at higher temperatures.
- Perform better in wet conditions.
- longer lasting.
- Better for heavier riders and heavy, sustained braking.

Resin/Organic:

- Quiet.
- Better initial bite.

- Tend to wear out faster
- Don't perform as well in in wet conditions.
