Description

The BikeYoke Barkeeper Stem has been designed to offer the highest possible strength to weight ratio and has done so in a visually appealing package.

The forged, multi-tempered and machined 7075 series aluminium material is surface hardened by shot peening before being lazer etched and anodised. Unlike traditional stems with a removable faceplate, the 2-bolt Barkeeper stem is precision machined to fit 35mm bars and to provide consistent pressure around the handlebar's circumference thanks to its single-piece construction.

All three available lengths have been tested to match and exceed the requirements for the strongest/highest possible category for mountain bike components (category 5) of DIN EN 17406:2021 and ASTM F2043-13. These tests have been run using an 800mm handlebar width, and leave plenty of strength in reserve for their intended use on "Trail" and "Enduro" bikes.

Who's this item for: This stem is suitable for all disciplines so is suitable for all riders running a 35mm diameter bar on a 1 1/8" straight or tapered steerer. It will be most suitable for those riders wanting a super-strong stem in a super-lightweight package and anyone who admires fine craftsmanship.

Material: 7075 Aluminium. This stem is forged, multi-tempered, machined, shot-peened, laser-etched and then anodised.

Stack height: 40mm

Clamp diameter: This stem is designed for use with 35mm handlebars. Due to the "thread through" nature of this stem, some handlebars may not fit due to them having differing shapes at or around the rise and sweep bends. BikeYoke guarantees fitment to Hope, OneUp, Raceface and Spank carbon bars with 20-35mm rise.

Rise: There is 0° rise to this stem.

Weight: 35mm 86g, 45mm 96g, 55mm 112g

    Lightweight 35mm stem

    After replacing another brand lightweight stem that broke, I appreciated the fact that the Bikeyoke stem was forged. Thus far its doing its job!!

    Nice and light, but a bit fiddly to install

    It’s a clean, minimalist looking stem and very light - mine (45mm) matched the stated weight. Only thing to be aware of is the low weight is achieved in part because there’s no removable faceplate, which makes installation a bit harder. If you have a riser bar you need to pry open the clamp with the included tool, remove your shifter, grip, etc. from one end of your bar and then slide it through, then install the lot on your steer tube. I’ve got a OneUp carbon bar with 25mm rise and it fit with a bit of jiggling. Check their website for handlebar compatibility.

    One star removed for the faff but if you’re chasing a lightweight and still sturdy build I’d happily recommend this.

    Barkeeper :)

    I like the BikeYoke stuff, always well thought out. This stem is a little finicky to install the bars into, but they are quite upfront about that, got my 35mm rise OneUp’s to fit tho. Light & strong, perfect !
