Description
With some of the coolest, and most unique features available in a helmet, the DRT5 doesn't just protect heads, it turns them.
Who's this for: Riders wanting a super technical and stylish helmet with some of the latest tech you can find in a helmet.
Rotational liner: The DRT5 comes with MIPS.
Straps: A large Y-yoke design with a standard buckle.
Retention system: Now this is where it starts to get interesting. The DRT5 doesn't use your typical plastic cage and dial to hold it on your head. Instead, it uses a BOA dial and a TX1 Lace Retention System. This is a very thin but VERY strong lace that you can barely feel on your head that tightens the whole way around to get a perfect fit.
Padding: Another unique feature, is that it only uses two pads — one pad on the crown of your head, and the other is a simple, ribbed rubber pad at the forehead – this directs sweat around your face and away from your eyewear.
Ventilation: 13 large-bore vents offer a happy medium of ventilation to coverage.
Special features: The visor tilts nearly vertical to allow you to place goggles up and out of the way, without damaging anything, or having them in a precariously balanced position.
Unfortunately, the Eyewear Landing Zone clips for sunglasses did not pass Australian Standards testing and is not included in Australian models.
Pros: Advanced closure and padding features, while still being a protective all-mountain/trail helmet.
Cons: You won't quite understand the lack of padding until you try it on, it could be a little polarising.

The best helmet I’ve ever had. Good vents, great fit. And it looks sharp.

The sweat band takes some getting used to . I sweat a lot and used to have sweat fall from from my helmet on to my glasses at the worst possible time when descending on bumpy trails. The silicon band on this helmet seems to work. I am no sure its a perfect solution, I am not sure and wonder if some combo of this and a normal pad would do the trick. The helmet itself is not the most ventilated. I also struggle with somewhere to stick my glasses on ascents since the sunglasses holder on the overseas models did not pass Australian Standards testing and the vent holes are not spaced conveniently.
The quality and look of the the helmet is fantastic (like all Oakley helmets I have owned)
